Fort Hood TX

My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the fallen.

A senseless massacree of heroes.

Rest in peace.

Change is certain

A few upsetting facts:

  • Unemployment is hovering around 10% of our population.
  • Jerry

    Jerry

  • Iran and North Korea are threatening the world (yup, us also).
  • Government takeover of our health care system (the good, bad, and the ugly).
  • The war in Afghanistan…
  • Tax payer funded bailouts…
  • Redistribution of wealth…
  • New taxes fees on middle class households.
  • What the heck is a czar?
  • Jerry (my dog) pee’d on my rug.

What would you do to address these problems?

A. Go to Copenhagen and press flesh for the Olympics to be held in your wife’s hometown that will inevitably cost tax payers  (yup, you and me) BILLIONS?

B. Get off your butt and bring the dog out before #2 ends up on the floor also…

I should have taken Jerry out.   ) :

My New Project National News and Discussion

I have been working on a new site.

http://clintonmass.us has been a huge success with over 700,000 hits a month so…

The Modern Constitutionalist

A brief introduction:

What is with this Constitution?

The United States Constitution is the foundation that all our rights, liberties, and freedoms are secured in. It defines our representation in government, the basis for our laws, and the structure of our government.

Our freedoms are a natural right, but these rights need a government in place to secure them, a strong government. Yet one that is bound by checks and balances.

Herein lies the struggle for The Modern Constitutionalist…

Enjoy, Jeff

New project

I am putting together a new web site for learning about Town Meetings and the local political process.

I have helped to form a group called The Clinton Local Accountability Improvement Group

We are a group of concerned citizens who are focused on bringing accountable leaders and policies to our local government here in Clinton, Massachusetts.

Whether it is excessive taxation and spending or unethical behavior of our town’s leadership, the Clinton Local Accountability Improvement Group is here to help.

The Clinton Local Accountability Improvement Group seeks to educate the public by presenting the facts and resources available in one place for the voters of Clinton . We believe that an educated voting public will make the best decisions for our community.

With an emphasis on Local Elections and Town Meetings we have a voice, and with your participation, we can improve our community.

That is from the “About” page. Lots of work to do.

I voted Democrat because…

One of the members at the Forum posted this. LOL

I voted Democrat because I love the fact that I can
now marry whatever I want. I’ve decided to marry my
horse.

I voted Democrat because I believe oil companies’
profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene but the
government taxing the same gallon of gas at 15% isn’t.

I voted Democrat because I believe the government will
do a better job of spending the money I earn than I would.

I voted Democrat because freedom of speech is fine as
long as nobody is offended by it.

I voted Democrat because when we pull out of Iraq I
trust that the bad guys will stop what they’re doing
because they now think we’re good people.

I voted Democrat because I’m way too irresponsible
to own a gun, and I know that my local police are all I need
to protect me from murderers and thieves.

I voted Democrat because I believe that people who
can’t tell us if it will rain on Friday can tell us that
the polar ice caps will melt away in ten years if I
don’t start driving a Prius.

I voted Democrat because I’m not concerned about the
slaughter of millions of babies so long as we keep all
death row inmates alive.

I voted Democrat because I believe that business
should not be allowed to make profits for themselves. They
need to break even and give the rest away to the government
for redistribution as THEY see fit..

I voted Democrat because I believe liberal judges need
to rewrite the Constitution every few days to suit some
fringe kooks who would never get their agendas past the
voters.

I voted Democrat because my head is so firmly planted
up my rectum that it is unlikely that I’ll ever have
another point of view.

“A Liberal is a person who will give away
everything they don’t own.” ————————————————————–

“The problem with Socialism is that you
eventually run out of other people’s money.”

Local election with positive results!

My annual stand out at city hall (and the push leading up to it) produced positive results this year!
William Connolly jr was elected selectman to the town of Clinton Mass replacing my friend Tony who had enough of the beatings from the other members of the board.

Local elections and local government are the most influential parts of our democratic society in our every day lives. Local elections are the cornerstone of our republic! i encourage all to get involved in the local politics as much as you can stand. here in Clinton politics is referred to as a “blood sport” by my friend (and past selectman picture on the right) Joseph Notaro. Check out his blog. Blood Sport

Congratulations to Bill and his wonderful family!

The tenth Amendment to the Constitution

The founders felt so strongly about this principle that they made it in law as the Tenth Amendment:
“The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”

Just a casual review of the activities of the federal government would make clear that there’s very little that it does which is actually authorized by the Constitution.
For many, many years, we’ve allowed our politicians to interpret and bend the rules of the Constitution; ostensibly for good reasons. But, we have to face reality. When you allow politicians to do this over long periods, eventually you end up with leaders who feel that the law doesn’t apply at all.
Here are some of the powers they solemnly promised would be outside the federal sphere:

  • governance of religion
  • training the militia and appointing militia officers
  • control over local government
  • most crimes
  • state justice systems
  • family affairs
  • real property titles and conveyances
  • wills and inheritance
  • the promotion of  useful arts in ways other than granting patents and copyrights
  • control of personal property outside of commerce
  • governance of the law of torts and contracts, except in suits between citizens of different states
  • education
  • services for the poor and unfortunate
  • licensing of taverns
  • roads other than post roads
  • ferries and bridges
  • regulation of fisheries, farms, and other business enterprises.

In recent news, several states have proclaimed their sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States.
Do you think Massachusetts is next?
This may be the revolution of 2009.

The Ring Family web site

I was recently contacted by family (Hi Jeffry). Jeff had done a web search and found himself here.

I have been working on the Ring family web site for sometime now… trying to get it right. But, never quite happy with it. So, my distant cousin perked my interest again.

The Rings attempted to come to the new world with the Mayflower but were turned back when the Speedwell sprung a leak. William and Mary would have to wait another nine years for the next opportunity. William did not survive the wait. But in 1629 Mary and her three children (Andrew, Elizabeth, and Sarah) set a course for the Plymouth Plantation.

With some help from other Rings I am attempting to establish “THE” Ring resource on the web.

www.ring.us.fm

If you are a Ring or are related to one, stop on by and check out the progress.

The thaw

The last of the snow is leaving the area!

I finally got out metal detecting. Dave and I hit the woods. A couple quick hours of wandering the woods for the buried treasure.

We discovered two bottle dumps from the 1800s.

Often I find bottle pieces and plate fragments but, this was an exceptional find because many bottles were found between some boulders in the middle of the woods.

I also found a 1875 dime and an indianhead penny a couple yards from the bottles. Dave found a nice locket that seems to be silver plated. Good find Dave!

I hope this year I get the opportunity to get out often… But, today, yard work and Alyssa’s birthday party.

Gotta go!
