The last of the snow is leaving the area!
I finally got out metal detecting. Dave and I hit the woods. A couple quick hours of wandering the woods for the buried treasure.
We discovered two bottle dumps from the 1800s.
Often I find bottle pieces and plate fragments but, this was an exceptional find because many bottles were found between some boulders in the middle of the woods.
I also found a 1875 dime and an indianhead penny a couple yards from the bottles. Dave found a nice locket that seems to be silver plated. Good find Dave!
I hope this year I get the opportunity to get out often… But, today, yard work and Alyssa’s birthday party.

As a young adult I learned that you shouldn’t spend what you don’t have. Pay as you go.
This is an elemental truth about finance that seems to elude our government and many of our neighbors.
Today the President suggested that we need to do this very thing. One week after doubling our nation’s debt. I fear it is to late, and we are to learn this lesson the hard way. What will make it worse is that the current administration will raise taxes. Raise taxes and cripple any hope we have to rise above the world wide recession and start anew.
This also is a lesson we already have learned in the last Great Depression.
Inflation will be the next fiscal plague we will face. Brace for the worst friends, but hope for the best.
This is the “hope” and “change” we have been given.
With the announcement from Tony (my freind) that he will not be seeking another term as selectman, the fireworks have started localy. He has said he is considering running for Town Moderator. A great choice for our town. I hope to hear more from him in the near future.
Joe Notaro has plenty of subjects for his blog over at Blood Sport budget time durin a town finantial crisis makes for some interesting talk.
The folks against the riffle range are trying another angle to get the range closed. The angle is rediculous (who would have thought). But, I’ve got to hand it to them, they sure have determination.
My metal detecting site Dirt-Fishing.com has been a hit lately. Many people visiting and enjoying the treasure talk. This year will be an active year at the site.
This sure looks like a productive start to a new year.

As we go through this holiday season, let us not forget the public servants that have worked tirelessly to restore power and keep our roads open here in Massachusetts.
I am greatful that I still have some retirement money left in my 401k account. And I wish those that lost more than I a prosperous New Year and hope that their hard work is repaid.
Let us all remember that in these hard times, some are less fortunate and more needy than ourselves.

Humiliating comments by two town officials.
These two (Mary Rose Dickhaut and James LeBlanc) have accused me of operating a “White Supremacy” web site.
Exhibit A. (their own words):
“We, concerned citizens of Clinton and Lancaster MA, wish to report what we believe to be
serious violations of Massachusetts State and Federal law. We feel that a “White Supremacist”website is in full operation in our community, along with blatant death threats, as well as terrorist
threats to blow up municipal buildings and infrastructure.”
I am appalled and hurt by such ridiculous accusations. The seriousness of such a thing is immense.

Is this what we have become?
A country that demands the government to bail us out? Or do we put our backs into it and push back? When the going gets tough Americans have always gotten tougher! Don’t give me any hand outs. And don’t hand out our children’s future to every bad investment and bad idea that sticks their hand out.
I am sick and tired of the poor Me’s! Get a set of balls and put your back into it!
Let’s get on with our lives.

Work tommorow, pick up leaves, eat supper with my family, the world keeps turning.
I lent my aunt (Franny) $700 billion dollars and now she cannot pay the bill. Not to worry! Our pal Barney has a plan to help. We will force all my neighbors to pay me the money out of a paycheck deduction.
